OWY Derby Kick-Off Gala
Our Gala will be held in the evening on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at The Red Mile Clubhouse. This year, the theme is a Derby Kick-Off Party. The semi-formal event will be filled with dinner, dancing, a silent auction, the presentation of the 2007 Outstanding Young Woman of the Year Award, celebrity horse race, and more. Proceeds from the Gala will be used to fund our Club’s many community projects. In addition, this year, we are committed to giving a portion of the night’s proceeds to the Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program.
The Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program, Inc. (BDVP) is an advocacy agency committed to ending intimate partner abuse and its impact on families and our community. They provide a comprehensive, holistic approach to meeting the needs of victims of intimate partner abuse as they strive to find healing and rebuild their lives as survivors. The Center’s services to seventeen counties in the Bluegrass include 24 hour crisis and information line, emergency shelter, group and individual counseling for adults and children, case management services, legal advocacy, financial literacy; information and referral, emergency financial assistance, housing assistance and transportation. In 2004, the One Hundred Women Campaign was started to help get the program started. We are proud to say that we are part of those 100 women and successfully helped raise nearly $140,000 to help aide the regional domestic violence program. We continue to show our support through monetary and in-kind donations.
