Annual Santa’s Shoppers Program, Saturday December 8th, 2007 at Lexington Walmart
LEXINGTON, KY -- December, 2007 –The Bluegrass Junior Woman’s Club (BJWC) is seeking sponsors for the annual Santa’s Shoppers Program. Working with Fayette County Public Schools, BJWC identifies children who need some of life’s most basic needs, such as new shoes and a new coat for school. In December, BJWC and other community volunteers will take these children shopping at Wal-Mart to buy a new pair of shoes, coat, and Christmas presents for their families. Afterwards, BJWC will have a party where the children wrap their gifts, have lunch, receive a visit and gift from Santa Claus, and receive a non-perishable bag of food for their family. The club is asking friends in the Lexington community to help sponsor this initiative. It takes over $50 per child to make this program a success each year, and a donation in the amount of $25 will cover the shopping excursion for one of these children. Donations can also be made in honor of a person who will receive a holiday card stating your gift in his/her name to this wonderful cause. Cash, check and VISA/MC are accepted.

The Bluegrass Junior Woman's Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for disadvantaged women and families in the Lexington area. BJWC is affiliated with the Kentucky Federation of Women's Clubs. KFWC has been in existence since 1894 and it consists of 135 clubs, totaling more than 5,400 members.
